The girl group auditioned for Sean 'Diddy' Combs, before being signed to Bad Boy Records.

Following their successful audition, the band's name was changed to Dream and they stopped working with Fontaine, who unsuccessfully tried to sue Diddy, Mellisa, Holly and Ashley.

Alex was replaced by Diana Ortiz in January 1999 — before Dream's first single, He Loves U Not, was released in 2000.

The song was a hit, peaking at No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Their debut album,It Was All a Dream,was released on January 23, 2001.

It reached No.6 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 1.5million copies.
