Dead Space Remake Chapter 12 Walkthrough (2024)

This guide will tell you how to complete Chapter 12: Dead Space of the Dead Space Remake, including the final boss fight!

This guide is for the Dead Space Remake, released in 2023!

Restore Power to the Shutter

When you land on Aegis VII, you’ll need to activate the Loader Controls in front of the shuttle to get started. This will begin to move the Marker but it cannot proceed further until the Shutters have power restored to them.

On the wall leading to the Shutter Control console you’ll find an empty slot where a battery must go. The battery is actually close by in the Living Quarters. The Living Quarters is a good place to save, restock on supplies, and perform any upgrades.

The Living Quarters will have a Server Room that holds the battery and 2 Infectors. When you open the door, the Infectors can escape so defeat them before they have a chance to convert any bodies into Slashers. Speak of which, a Slasher will pop out behind you so be careful.

Bring the battery to the slot outside to power the Shutter Controls. Activate the Shutters to bring the Marker inside.

For a while, you’re going to be opening Shutters and lifting Bridges to let the Marker through. In the first big room you’ll encounter, there will be a quarantine lockdown. Defeat the necromorphs and keep the Marker moving.

Restore Power to the Junction

When you’re halfway through, the Marker will be unable to proceed until you restore power to the junction. Defeat the two Guardians to safely access the door between them and go through it. You’ll find yourself in this tall room with a console on the bottom floor.

Use the elevator to reach the bottom level and pull the battery out of the elevator’s power slot. Look around the room to find 2 more batteries then insert each of the 3 batteries into the West, Central, and East Generators. This will allow you to activate the console which turns on the fans and disable gravity.

With the generator active, power will be restored so you’ll need to fly up and past the fans. Use Stasis on any spinning fans in the way and fly past them before they speed up again. When you get to the top, return to the door you came from and make your way back to the Marker.

When you get back you’ll deal with the last quarantine lockdown. Defeat the necromorphs and the Brute to keep making your way forward.

The next room you’ll encounter will be covered in flesh and a tendril will block the patch of the cargo rails. Find and destroy a cluster that hides a ramp that leads upstairs.

When you get upstairs you’ll find some Slashers and a Divider. Defeat them and find the cluster that links to the tendril blocking the cargo rail. Destroy it to make the final push back to the Marker’s Pedestal.

Get the Marker to the Pedestal

You’ll be outside again and this area is just jam packed with tendrils. You’ll have to go around to seek and destroy every cluster you can find to clear the path. Every time you destroy a cluster, necromorphs will come out to attack you. It would be best to take this one cluster at a time to limit the amount of necromorphs you fight.

To make things worse, numerous tentacles will appear as you travel in this area. Defeat them as well to clear the path.

When the Marker starts moving again with the path cleared, waves of necromorphs will attack you. If you are low on ammo and on higher difficulties, it would be best to use traps or slow down the necromorphs to keep them off you. When the Marker reaches the pedestal, activate the console to load the Marker onto the pedestal. This will defeat any necromorphs here so you don’t have to waste ammo on them.

After talking to Nicole, make your way to the Gravity Tether Control Room to reactivate the tethers. The room will lock down and Kendra will have Nicole hostage. You’ll watch the full video log Nicole sent at the beginning of the game and you’ll find out Nicole has been dead this whole time.

Here is where things get heart wrenching. The “Nicole” who has been helping you this entire time since Chapter 7 has actually been Dr. Elizabeth Cross. The Marker has been making Isaac see her as Nicole while making Dr. Cross see Isaac as Jacob Temple. Kendra shoots Dr. Cross to get the Cargo Controls and attempts to get away with the Marker.

Now you need to go through the door behind you and get to the shuttle first. This will take you directly to the Living Quarters so restock and upgrade for the final time. Be sure to save and head outside. Debris will be falling all over the place and the Hive Mind rises up. Kendra doesn’t survive and now it’s just Isaac and the Hive Mind.

Defeat the Hive Mind

For the first phase of the fight, shoot the eye clusters off the Hive Mind. It will attack by slamming its tentacles at you but these are very easy to dodge so long as you keep strafing left or right.

After shooting off all the eye clusters, the Hive Mind will send Slashers to attack you. Defeat the Slashers to start the third phase of the fight where the Hive Mind exposes chest clusters to you. When it first does this, destroy one of the clusters.

Now the Hive Mind will start shooting lines of acid to limit your space to move and dodge tentacles. Don’t let this touch you as the corrosive acid will deal lingering damage. Despite the limited space to move, you can still easily dodge the tentacles by strafing left or right.

Keep dodging the tentacles and every so often the Hive Mind will open its chest. Shoot the clusters and repeat this process until all chest clusters are destroyed.

For the final phase, the Hive Mind will grapple you and attempt to consume you. It will have one final cluster left in the center of its maw. Destroy that cluster to defeat the Hive Mind.

Head to the shuttle and a cutscene will ensue. You’ll see the fragment of the planet crash into Aegis VII in a blinding spectacle of light.

Congratulations! You have now completed Dead Space and can rest easy! Watch the cutscene, view or skip the credits and you’ll now have access to a New Game Plus! The New Game Plus will grant you a level 6 RIG suit, credits, power nodes, and open the option to obtain the Alternate Ending.
